Tag It Up! ~ Using Distress Oxides & Rising Boat Stamps

Hey there crafty friends, today is the start of a new challenge over at the SumMore Fun blog. They have a lovely mood board for this challenge and to help provide a little inspiration I have some easy tags to share with you. These tags are made out of Canton XL watercolor paper and to create the background I did the smooshing technique with distress oxides. To make my tags I used a stitched tag die and my Sizzix BIGkick.

Distress Oxide Colors Used:

  • Mermaid Lagoon
  • Squeezed Lemonade
  • Worn Lipstick

** The “Smooshing Technique” is when you press your ink pad on to some plastic (like a piece of transparency or acetate) spritzing it with a little water, and then smooshing it onto your paper. **I really liked the colors in the first picture on the mood board and chose to use that as my inspiration for these tags.

All the imaging on the tags were done with the Raisin Boat stamp Set {Imagine} except for the word “Thanks”. The word “Thanks” is from the Raisin Boat stamps set {Strokes of Pride}. I used my MISTI stamping tool and the distress oxide Mermaid Lagoon. I really like how I was able to do the smooshing effect on the background to get such soft colors from adding the water and then to be able to add the same color when stamping and have it stand out so nicely.

I accented these lovely tags with some mini flat back yellow pearls and then finish them both off with a nice jute bow at the top.

Check out this beautiful mood board and let your imagination flutter.Use what ever you would like from the board for inspiration, the photos, the colors, or both. All information can be found over on the SumMore Fun blog.

***** I created a group, “The Watercoloring Orchard“, and would love for you to join. It’s a place for all papercrafters to share any papercraft that they watercolored on. But it doesn’t have to be just the traditional transparent watercolors, it can be any medium that water was used with; like your inks and markers. I would love to get sponsors for the group and eventually host giveaways but I can’t do that until I have members, so please hop on over and click join. *****
