Fish In A Wine Glass Beach Card

Hello there, I have this pretty awesome fun beachy card to share with you today. The reason this card is so awesome is I created the image used to make this card. So, the secret is now out of the bag, “Jessica can actually draw!” YAY! isn’t that exciting? Now all you crafters have something new to look forward to (what new images I come up with). I just have to decide what I want to with them, who knows maybe I’ll get lucky and some stamp company will want to turn them into physical stamp, on day. Anyways, let’s get onto the card.Isn’t this just the cutest wine glass you have ever seen? I really like the underwater fish scenery inside the glass. I also like the wonky look of the line art.I printed my image on some 90lb Canson watercolor paper and then watercolored my image using Prima Watercolor Confections. I then added a touch of shimmer throughout my painted image using pearlescent watercolor paint (the cheap stuff from Joann’s). After all my paint was dry I trimmed my watercolored panel down to the size I wanted and then edged it with Tim Holtz Hickory Smoke Distress Ink.

I felt like the card needed a little dimension so I embossed some white cardstock with a Darice wave embossing folder using my Sizzix BIGkick. I then trimmed that down along with some grey striped DCWV pattern paper so that both papers would butt up perfectly to each other. I then attached both papers to a dark grey card base (recollections cardstock) and to hide the seam where the papers met I added a strip of grey polka dotted washi tape. Before attaching my watercolored panel I attached it to some black fun foam so my card had even more dimension.

The sentiment “Sip Happens!” is from a Newton’s Nook stamp set called “Wine A Little” and goes perfectly with the image I created. I stamped it in the Tim Holtz Hickory Smoke Distress Ink onto the grey paint trimming I cut off my painted panel when trimming it down. I then fussy cut the words, edging them with the same Hockey Smoke ink before finally attaching them to my card.I wanted my card inside to match the front so I started by watercoloring a piece of that 90lb Canson watercolor paper the same Prima grey used on my wine glass image. I stamped the Newton’s Nook sentiment “the BEST wines aRe THE ONES we drink WiTH friends” and did the edging in Hickory Smoke Distress Ink by Tim Holtz. I also used a We R Memory Keepers Corner chomp to round the corners. Then to finish the sentiment side of my inside card panel I add a bit of washi tape. I like how the orange washi tape matches my little fish on the front. Also the sentiment used is from Newton’s Nook stamp set “Wine A Little”.For the other side of the inside, I just wanted it pretty so I brought the same elements from the front; the DCWV pattern paper, the wave embossed cardstock, and grey polka dot washi tape.

I really hope you likes this card and the image I created. I would love to draw more fun images so please share your ideas on what I should draw next in the comments below. If I like your idea and choose to draw it, I will send you the digi file of the finished image.

***** I created a group, “The Watercoloring Orchard“, and would love for you to join. It’s a place for all papercrafters to share any papercraft that they watercolored on. But it doesn’t have to be just the traditional transparent watercolors, it can be any medium that water was used with; like your inks and markers. I would love to get sponsors for the group and eventually host giveaways but I can’t do that until I have members, so please hop on over and click join. *****
