Hello wonderful crafty friends. Have you ever had scraps of patterned vellum that you had no clue what to do with it? Well, today I’m going to give you an easy way to use up those scraps.
Isn’t she just lovely, she is one of my favorites from the Unity Stamp KOM’s. This beauty came from the January, 2017 kit called “When You Smile“.
To start I stamped her two times, a full image on white cardstock and then about three quarter of an image on the patterned vellum. I used Stazon ink because of its permanency it insured it would not smear on the vellum. I chose to only stamp a partial image on the vellum because I still wanted a good chunk of the patterned words “Simply Beautiful” to show. The color was added to the girl by coloring the backside of the vellum with Spectrum Noir markers; any alcohol markers will work even Sharpie markers.
I used a stitch square die to cut the uncolored image, then inked the edges of that and the vellum. Using DCWV polka dot yellow scrapbook paper I cut seven circles with a one inch circle punch which I attached to my card base to create a scalloped edge. I then carefully lined up and attached both images to create a complete image. After that I used my awesome Tim Holtz ruler and craft pick to punch holes to run some yellow twine through, tying it up with a nice bow. After attached to my card base I embellished it with some fussy cut stamped hearts that were stamped on the same paper the scalloped edge was created with. I thought I was finished when I stamped the “i love you” sentiment from the Lawn Fawn Scripty Saying stamp set but felt something was missing so I added some solid black stamped hearts, which tied everything together nicely.
