What is up crafty friends? It is a gross rainy day here, so maybe I’ll be able to squeeze in some extra craft time. Did you know today is National Pumpkin Day? Since both of my digi sets have pumpkins in them they will be 30% off for the rest of today and all weekend long, so make sure to head over to my Etsy store Polka Dot Orchards and grab them while you can. Also, while you are there don’t forget to click that heart and favorite my store so you stay up to date when I create new digis.
I used the Sketchy Pumpkin Spice digi set to create the card I’m sharing with you today. Not to toot my own horn, but I am really digging this background stamp and I’ve been having a blast creating with it.
I first taped my watercolor paper down on a hardboard and did the smooshing technique using Tim Holtz distress inks. After it was completely dry I printed that amazing fun background stamp. I used Canson 90lb watercolor paper, it is a student grade paper but works perfectly for the cards and digi stamps. The only thing is you have to take care not to oversaturate this paper with water, I would suggest if you decide to use this paper to stick with a wet to dry technique.
That fun pumpkin was also printed onto Canson 90lb watercolor paper and painted using distress inks and cut out the fussy way using my Tim Holtz mini snips. I adhered the pumpkin to a vellum stitched circle die cut, then attached the vellum circle to the center of my background image which was attached to a Neenah solar white card base.
Tim Holtz Colors Used:
- Spiced Marmalade
- Scattered Straw
- Carved Pumpkin
- Mustard Seed
- Ripe Persimmon
- Mowed Lawn
- Peeled Paint
- Walnut Stain
I finished up this very cute simple card by attaching the sentiment strip “It’s All About That Pumpkin Spice” and adding a single orange sequin to the sentiment strip.
The fun pumpkin image and sentiment is also from the Sketchy Pumpkin Spice set.
