Vintage Truck Thank You Card

Hello wonder crafty friends!

It’s always nice to say thanks with a handmade card but when it comes to making a thank you card for a guy, let alone any card for a guy, it can be a little daunting. The stamping world is full of all kinds of cutesy stamps and girly stamps but is really limited when it comes to manly stamps. I was so excited when I first saw Unity’s 3/18 KOM called {Stay Classy}, it had the perfect dude stamp; a broken down old timey pickup truck.

So, here is the card I created with that awesome truck stamp, a simple but lovely Thank You card.

I stamped the truck onto Canson XL watercolor paper with Dove Grey Stazon ink using my Tim Holtz stamp positioner. This stamp has so many sketchy shadowed areas that when stamped in black I felt it took away from the watercoloring. Stamping in the light grey actually created some nice shadow areas because once painted over you could still see the pigment on top of the grey. I watercolored it using Peerless watercolors.

I loved how this image looked once painted, that I wanted to keep the rest of the card simple, so heat embossed in black the sentiment “Thank You from all of Us” onto a scrap piece of vellum. I then cut out the sentiment using a small stitched banner die. I like how the vellum almost blends in with the painted image but still stands out just enough not to blend in with the card. This sentiment is from the Jaded Blossom stamps set {Kind Thanks}.

Concord and 9th hit it out of the park with their script stamp sets. With these stamp sets I can write anything and everything I want and it almost looks like I did it all by myself… Shhh, we won’t tell the recipients it was a stamp, lol. Anyways, those are what I used on the inside of the card to stamp “Thank You”. Not half bad for using them for the first time ever, at least I think so.

I do have to say even though I did not use Unity sentiments on this card I still think Unity has some of the best sentiments stamps out there and a lot of the time is my go to, especially for card insides.

I have been sharing Unity crafty creations all week as a Growing in Unity girl and will be choosing 2 people at random from the comments to win 25 random Unity stamps. So, make sure to comment below and on the previous posts for this week for a chance to win.
