Happy Monday crafty friends! The card I’m sharing today was created with an image I drew. I’m giving this image to all of y’all (for free) and you can download it at the end of the post.
Before we get to the card and freebie download, make sure to sign up for my newsletter so you will know each and every time I create a new image I’m still learning how to use the drawing apps on my tablet (there’s a lot to learn) so, as time goes on I’ll get better and so will my digi images, you won’t want to miss out. You can sign up here! And thank you so much for deciding to follow along with my craft journey.
To start I printed my floral coffee mug on to some Canson 90lb watercolor paper. It the cheap student grade paper but goes through the printer nicely and as long as as you do the wet to dry technique the paper handles watercolor pretty well. There will be a little bit of warping but after it is attached to the card base no one could ever tell.
The texture look behind the coffee cup was created by taking a damp crinkled up paper towel and gently dipping it in the watercolor paint and gently pressing it to the paper. I repeated this several times using the yellow and purple paint. If at any time I picked up too much watercolor I would dabbed some off onto a scrap piece of paper.
Oh, I used Prima Watercolor Confections to paint the lovely cup. I love those paints and they for sure are my go-to watercolor paints for stamping.
After my paint was dry I rounded the corners using a corner chop and then edged my entire image panel with Tim Holtz wilted violet distress ink. I then layered my image on top of some green pattern paper from my paper stash. I’ve been trying really hard to use my scrapbook paper that I’ve been hoarding for many years rather than buying new paper. It’s a little hard to do because you know I need to have more and more paper and I can never get enough paper, and there’s so many cute patterns out there; I have to have it all! Wait, that applies to all crafts supplies, lol.
I embellished my card front with some yellow satin ribbon, purple sequins and an itty bitty yellow bow (I love itty bitty bows). I finished it up by adding the sentiment “thinking of you” from the Tim Holtz {Saying Stuff} stamp set.
I absolutely love the sentiment used on the inside. “Happy Everything” is just such a nice thing to say to to someone and the way Unity designed this stamp is simply perfect. The stamp is from Unity’s KOM called {When You Smile}. If you have been following me you know I love for my card insides to coordinate with the card front. For this one I used leftover scraps from the papers on the front of the card. I also embellished the inside with sequins and yellow ribbon.
Now, that’s enough of my talking (typing) for today, it’s time to get on to the free download of the the lovely floral coffee mug I designed. I would love to see what you create with my digi stamps so I created a Facebook group ~Friends of Polka Dot Orchard~ A place just for you to share all things made with my images, please make sure to join it.
