Hello crafty friends, Did you know I have joined forces with Jeanie Hayes and Unity working on their amazing rubber stamps? Yes you heard that right, I’m working with Unity Stamp Co. Can I get a big woot woot! It’s only my sentiments that you will see but its still very cool. Some of the newer KOM’s and some of Jeanie’s sets have my typography handy work.
Welp, I’m stoping in to share a slimline card I made by layering up image stamps from this months Kit Of The Month from Unity Stamp Co. called {Hello Winter Days}. Isn’t that scene amazingly beautiful? And, how it pairs so well with that girl, OMG! Jeanie really hit it out of the park with these two illustrations.
I did do stamp masking to get everything to fit so nicely together and on a slimline. For the winter background image I masked off the side of the paper before stamping so that when I used my Trinity slimline dies {Stitched Card Panels & Scalloped Card Panels} it cut clean at the edges and looked as if the image was intended for a slimline. Now, take a step back, I stamped the girl first and created a mask before even stamping the background.
The entire image panel was water colored using Prima Marketing Watercolor Confections, I love all watercolors but my Prima’s are aways my go to. If you look close all the snow shimmers, isn’t it beautiful?
So, now let’s talk about sentiments, I love creating them. I truly have a love for words and typography and am so thankful for Unity for turning my worded works in to physical stamps. The sentiment I used on the card front is actually from last months KOM {Elements of the Holiday}. I really am loving these label stamps and it seems like so many other crafters are too, thank you everyone who has been rocking my label sentiments. I stamped the sentiment using Versafine Black Onyx Ink on to Neenah Desert Storm cardstock and then cut each word out and glued it to my card front using Ranger Multi Medium Matte, I love that stuff.
Let’s chat a little bit about accents.. Accenting your cards whether it be with a little bling, washing tape, or some textured stamps, even some bits of stencil and texture past, always seems to add that little bit of something making an okay card a wow card.
I accented my card using some sequins from Buttons Galore & More that I picked up from Tuesday Morning. These are some of my favorite mixes because they have a little bit of everything all in one container.
So, I really probably should get my sewing machine set up so I can add real stitches but for this card I just used a zig zag stitch stamp from Craftin Desert Divas {Sew Raggedy}. Still being lazy and not getting out my sewing machine, I had to get a stitches stamp from Unity so I can have a verity of options to add different stitches to my card which I will be using in some of soon to come Christmas cards.
We all love washi tape, right? WHY?? Because it’s quick and easy to add that final touch to your cards, right? Well, I never seen to have the colors or patterns I want to accent my card. For this card I created what I will call for the time being “Faux Washi”. I wanted little strips of washing that for the most part matched my Desert Storm card base and had some script on it. How I made my faux washi… On a scrap piece of Desert Storm I blended Tea Dye destress ink giving the card stock a slight aged look. I then stamped the script in Vintage Photo distress oxide using Prima’s Finnabair {Read To Me} stamp. I then trimmed it in thin strips, cut one end at an angle and adhered it to my card. There you have it “Faux Washi”, maybe you should try that on your next crafty project.
No card is complete until the inside is done too. Why you ask? Because when you are ready to mail them off to that someone special they are just about ready to go. All you have to do is add that sweet note inside and it’s ready to be mailed, easy peasy. I can’t tell you how many times I have picked up a card with a blank inside to add to something going in the mail leaving me scrambling to make the inside look nice too. Because of that I always try to finish the inside while I am working on the front so I can coordinate the inside to match the front. For this one I used the same Trinity scalloped die as I did on the front, and added just a bit of the same sequins mix. The “Wishing YOU JOY” sentiment is another one of mine from last months KOM, it really worked perfect for this cards inside.
Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you found some crafty inspiration in todays post.
Happy Crafting!
