As a card maker have you ever looked at planner stamps and thought, “Oh, those are very cute but how am I supposed to use those in a card”? Well, I’ve got the answer for you. You make notecards with them and notecards are an easy way just to drop someone a simple Hello. Plus, you can get a variety of cards out of one stamp set. the cards I am sharing today are the perfect examples for creating these easy peasy notecards.
I actually created the 3×3 notecards used in today’s post out of 90lb Canson watercolor paper. Did you know Simple Stories makes a line of planner stamps called Carpe Diem and their coffee stamps are oh so yummy? I used both of their coffee sets to make my notecards. {Mug Life & But First Coffee} I love how all those little sentiments fit in the coffee cups. After I stamped out the cups and sentiments that I wanted to use, I painted each cup a single color and then painted a shadow underneath each cup. Bam!, it’s that easy… Now, I have nice little notecards that took very little effort.
Me being me I really wanted to keep going and add some twine and a bit sequins. I even thought about cutting off the card front and layering it on top of some pattern paper to create a whole different card but I decided to leave it alone. For those of you who really know me, knows that was very hard for me to do because I love adding more and more layers.
I painted all the images with my Prima Watercolor Confections, these are my very favorite watercolors to use. Since these are a single layer notecard and the entire card is made out of watercolor paper I used very little water when painting them. There was a very little warping when I was finished, warping that nobody would even notice, but I decided to run them through my laminator (sandwiched with a carrier sheet and a piece of cardstock). I was curious to see if doing that would make my card 100% flat, guess what?? It worked!
